I mostly eat Paleo diet food, in Zone diet proportions, so I try to stay away from any processed food anyway. Also, anything that mainstream labels as "healthy" normally means "low fat", which they have to add sugar to to make it palatable. Staying away from the low fat / high carb nonsense is the first step to sorting your diet out.

Hi Corey, Principally I mean no sweets, though I am also avoiding foods with added sugar in anyway. As someone who has recently started crossfit and who is looking to have a proper diet to go along with it, I was curious what exactly you mean by "no sugar". So many "healthy" foods still carry a few grams of sugar.

Just came across your blog….very interesting. Life's been very busy so no chance to write up about my 3rd resolution yet. But no sugar and no booze is still going well. I do think my body is objecting to going cold turkey though as I generally feel lethargic and I'm sleeping about 50% more than normal! I'm hoping that will pass.
Christmas in the height of summer is just wrong. But then, we're into our 4th week of continuous snow on the ground, so it's all a bit weird here too. Now that January is underway, the job market normally picks back up, so I'm sure you won't have any problems finding work.

Christmas in oz was hot and so unlike Christmas as we know it to be completely unrecognisable . apart from going to church and having a tree up (it got up late afternoon christmas eve) i wouldnt have known it was christmas. very odd indeed.
We are really enjoying being here but have to find employment pdq before the money runs out .kids start school in 2 weeks so will be blasting off on the photography front then.
my weight loss campaing going well, dropped from 10st on christmas day to 9st 8.8 today ( i could have rounded it to 9st9 but i don't want to lol.) So very pleased with progress so far. have bee active most days walking swimming or today bouncy castling but not joined a gym yet, need income first i think.

HI Colin so how s the list of NYR/goals going?<br

Cheers Steve, when I say sugar, I mean refined sugar. Of course I'll be eating carbohydrates (albeit in Zone Diet proportions) which are a form of sugar I suppose, but I'm talking about stuff that has added sugar, which obviously is all sweets, sugary drinks, deserts etc.
And Steve J, I ask you this, what post *isn't* enhanced with a picture of an attractive lady?!? ;-) I've met Nicole actually, she was part of the training team when I did my Crossfit certification, very nice lady. Click her name in my post above and scroll down and you'll see a pic of me and her.

Hi Jane, how was your first Xmas in Oz? Thing is with the booze its linked to so many health problems and I'm convinced its the one major factor that hampers my training. Time for a serious re-think on that one.
I don't want to do the 'all or nothing' approach as it just doesn't work for me, take it one day at a time I guess!
Chocolate is an issue too, I find it easier to let go of if I am on a specific training schedule but that isn't sustainable for the long term.
I'll get back to you on the sugar but thanks for posting the picture of the attractive lady, I'll read her article to see if it convinces me further.

Goodness, I am in the same position re: booze.
