Kingdoms of Camelot: Hints, Tips, Cheats & Strategies

Kingdoms of Camelot game Cheats, Hints and Tips Strategy Guide – Battle for the North iOs

One of the (several) reasons I’ve not posted on this blog recently, apart from being busy with a new job, is that I’ve been writing my first Amazon Kindle ebook, which I’ve finally uploaded to Amazon Kindle today.

It’s about the Kabam game Kingdoms of Camelot, whilst written for the Battle for the North iPhone App edition, much of the guidance applies to the FaceBook and online version too. You can see it here: Kingdoms of Camelot: Hints, Cheats, Tips & Strategy Guide

I actually vacillated for while on what to call it, whether to call it a KoC: BftN Strategy Guide, or just KoC Cheats (but that sounds rude!) or the full Kingdoms of Camelot Battle for the North Hints, Tips, Cheats and Strategy guide, or whether to tout the benefits, such as how to get 100 million resources for just an hour’s work. Either way, here’s the contents page for your interest, it’s written in the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) format:

  • Introduction – Cheating
  • How to grow troops without being food limited
  • Which is the best city to make your parking slot?
  • Which structures to upgrade to Level 10?
  • How to use your best knight’s level in more than one place

The purpose of this post is to act as a central place for people to ask questions about the book and for me to post answers and corrections and additions as things come up, given that it’s an online game, Kabam regularly evolve the game. So if you’ve bought the book, or just generally have a question about the game, feel free to comment below and I’ll do what I can to answer.

Is there anywhere to preview portions of the actual book? While 7.99 isn’t all that much it is more than I like to spend on an ebook that I don’t know anything about. I love learning from the exp of others and reading about it is far better than being on the receiving end. Thanks

Good question Brian. I did expect Amazon to put the first 10% up as a see Inside preview, but they don’t seem to. I believe that if you really don’t like it, you can get a refund from Amazon, though I confess I’ve never done it so don’t know how.

It’s always difficult working out how much to charge for an eBook. As it’s not the eBook that you’re buying really, but the information it contains. I made it a bit of personal hobby to ask people how much they’d spent on Kingdoms of Camelot, and was astonished when the majority replied in the $300 – $400 USD range. I knew it must be a lot as it was the highest grossing game on the Apple iTunes App Store for ages. But I was dumb struck when I started getting answers like $1000… $1500… and even a massive $2000!!!

Then I realised that I’d spent a tiny fraction of what most people do, and still had a bigger army, was growing Might faster, had killed more Might, and was ranked higher than most of them. I was able to out perform many of them, but had saved myself literally $hundreds. That’s when I decided to write the book.

I guess it comes down to whether you think investing $7.99 to learn how to save $300+ is worth it?

I opted to make the purchase from amazon and have found the guide useful. A lot of the information I have read in forums but having it all in one place is very helpful. The bookmarking tips have been by far the most helpful to me. Is there an option for someone who bought the guide to get a copy of the updated version? How have the sales been if you don’t mind me asking?

I have also see your post in the KOC forum and you mention something about speeding up building times by asking for alliance help couldmyoumexplain that more? Was it in the first version of the guide and I just missed it? Thanks

Hi Brian, thanks for the question, I’m glad you found my guide useful.

I confess I’d assumed that as a purchaser you’d automatically get the updated book. As it happens I’ve posted the updated material on the Kabam Kingoms of Camelot forum here, so you’re not missing anything:

    http://community.kabam.com/forums/showthread.php?138227-3rd-City-Tips-How-to-Get-it-What-to-Do-with-it-and-How-to-Build-it-FAST!

Ah and there is one other tip that I realised only yesterday: when your 3rd city starts (and I assume this was true for a 2nd city too, but don’t remember, it was so long ago) that it defaults to a 10% tax rate. Of course you most likely what to set this to zero immediately, so don’t forget like I did!

Oh sorry, I forgot to answer your second question: When you are building a building, and you are in an alliance, press the green “Speed Up” button in the bottom right of the city screen, then press the blue “Request Help from Alliance” button at the bottom of the Speed Up screen. This posts a Help request on your alliance’s chat window. Every time one of your alliance clicks the help, your build time is reduced by 1 minute or 1%, whichever is larger.

I have purchased the book but just realised you have updated since I bought it. How can I read the updates? Thanks!

  • Colin McNulty 20 November 2012, 8:11 pm

I think it depends on your Kindle version but you should be able to download the update. Here’s some advice I found on the net:

    > “To find out how to do this, go to your Manage Your Kindle Page. Just below Your Kindle Library, you will see View: with a drop down menu, the first listing is All Items; Scroll down to below Active Content and if you have updates a new selection will appear entitled “Updates Available”. Click on it and you will receive a list of your books that need updating. Follow the prompts to receive the updates.”

I don’t seem to be able to get the updated version from amazon while I do realize I can get the same info from the kabam forums it would be nice to have the updated version of the guide since the guide was purchased. Most of the guide I formation can be found in the forums in one thread or another the key is you put something together that has all the information in one place which is a time saver.

One a side note I think the alliance speed up must have been a special deal because I don’t see it there anymore…would be nice though…

  • Colin McNulty 24 November 2012, 9:51 pm

I’m not sure why you can’t get the update, sorry.

Re the alliance help, I think that different servers have slightly different features. it may be that your server doesn’t have it.

  • Brian 3 December 2012, 6:59 pm

Was wondering if you had found any new information on buyers getting the updated version? I would still like to have the most up to date version in my kindle reader.

I would also be interested in hearing more about the process of battling. I had a pretty good idea on most of the stuff in the book although there were a couple of things that have really helped in the growth department. But on the offensive front I feel like I am lacking, outside of baiting people for rein defense. Thanks

Brian, I’m sorry that I didn’t reply to your last comment, it slipped my mind in the run up to Christmas.

I still have no idea why you can’t update the eBook, I think you’d best speak to Amazon tech support for that. I’m just the author, and sadly not a Kindle expert.

Hi, I read your book and found it quite good, I was wondering if you know how to get to level 90
    Thank you

  • Colin McNulty 16 February 2013, 7:20 am

Sorry Steve, I don’t believe there’s anything specific. I know one strategy for more exp is to destroy buildings and rebuild them. Never tried it myself though.

If you liked the book, please post an Amazon review, if you have a spare minute.

    Many thanks.

I don’t have the ALLIANCE HELP BUTTON on my Speed Up. Am I doing something wrong?

  • Colin McNulty 27 February 2013, 6:52 pm

I’ve subsequently discovered that the Alliance Help feature is only implemented on some servers, so don’t worry if you don’t have it.

  • Jordan Allen 24 April 2013, 2:06 am

Hello Mr. McNulty, I have read your book, and love the help that I received from it. I wanted to just point out something I found out in the game recently. This may not be true all the time, but I haven’t been attacked yet. I find high level players with 10, 15, 20M might that have no alliance, and attack them for ress. My assumption is that these high level players have stopped playing and have been kicked out the alliance; therefor you can get super high res off these players. I don’t go for low level players because usually they are still trying to find an alliance that fits them. Thank you for your help with the guide!

  • Darlene 21 January 2017, 7:12 pm

The guied was good for beginners and moderate players in building might. But I thought it should have more on the battle for the North. Like campaining to up your knight. And finding mystic crystals. If you have any pointa on thin pls let me know.

Stephen, I have been playing koc for a very long time, and the only way I know to get higher levels is by ascending your city and building it back up. I have four different cities and my first city has been ascended three times. I have only now reached level 90.
